A lot of spiritual people on Ibiza talk about the masculine versus feminine energy on the island. I´ve worked with this principle for years and can also definitely feel the difference with the Netherlands. So let´s look into it!
Masculine & feminine energy in balance
Let´s first have a look at what this concept means. You might already know yin & yang, well: yin stands for the feminine and yang stands for masculine. Every human has both of these energies within (and yes usually men have more masculine energy versus women more feminine energy).
But what does it look like? Here’s a short list of aspects:
The feminine: inwards, soft, warm, feelings, sensuality, intuition, surrender, flow, creativity, playfulness, receiving, spirituality
The masculine: outwards, leadership, action, decisiveness, boundaries, goal oriented, giving, success, focus, stability, planning
As you can see it’s a polarity. Both are important, so one isn’t better than the other, it’s about balance! Just like the moon (standing for the feminine) and the sun (standing for the masculine), they both coexist.
How does yin & yang work in daily life?
Coming from the Netherlands I can tell that the masculine versus feminine energy there is out of balance. People are constantly in ‘doing’ mode and not really in ‘relaxing’ mode, which means mostly masculine productivity.
Everything needs to be faster and better and more… People live under pressure, are stuck in their head and don’t feel their feelings. That’s not sustainable, so there’s a high rate of burn-outs and depression.
For most people this is very unconscious and learning about this aspect opens a new world. Once you see it, you can start healing to come back in balance. For example by learning healthy boundaries or sharing emotions.
Masculine or feminine energy on Ibiza?
So then what’s the deal with this concept on Ibiza? Well, that’s an interesting one! The difference between the Netherlands for example and Ibiza is huge. A lot of masculine energy in Holland and Ibiza has a lot of feminine energy.
The island attracts a lot of spiritual people and even for non spiritual people it’s about ‘being’ and relaxing. So far the part that most people see. But what a lot of people don’t realise is that Ibiza can be an emotional rollercoaster.
Your feelings come to the surface easier and feel more intense. Not just the positive ones (being happy on holiday), but also the negative ones ánd the rollercoaster going from up to down and up again.
Therefor the island is perfect for retreats and healing sessions, because people are already relaxed ánd naturally more open here. And it will show you exactly where you have work to do in masculine versus femine energy 😉
