Different types of breathwork
Intense breathing sessions score on social media, but they are not the only form of ‘breathwork’. Don’t get me wrong: breathwork healing sessions are powerful, but why wouldn’t we first learn to breathe properly on a daily basis?
Because that’s the problem that I see: most of the people don’t breathe optimally anymore. Due to stress or repressing emotions we have a disturbed breathing pattern. We breathe too quick, we hold our breath or we breathe too high (only in the chest). And that only gives us more stress…
I dó give ‘intense breathwork sessions’, but sometimes it’s more beneficial to start with breath coaching and gentle exercises to connect with the breath. And when I give intense breathwork sessions, I don’t do it like usual.
Intense breathing sessions good or not?
Breathing has always been a ‘weak point’ for me, I struggled with it on a daily basis (chronic hyperventilation). To then do an intense breathwork session – which I tried to get better at it – was almost traumatic for me.
These intense breathwork sessions are with the method of ‘connective breath’ or often called ’transformative breathwork’. And it can definitely be transformative, because a lot can happen during these sessions.
But it’s also often in a very harsh way, which is not necessarily good. Our nervous system heals with softness, patience and gentleness. Not with pushing more, as most of us have already pushed way too much.
When I tried a few of those sessions I got little to no support. And I thought I just had to push through. I even did a breathwork course to face the breathing struggle. But I still didn’t feel this way of working, so I let go of it…
Until I did another course in which the connected breath was an aspect and I learned how to do it in a much softer way, with loving guidance. And then I fell in love again with the breath!

And that’s what I want for you as well! To connect with your breath in a safe way, because if you connect with your breath – you connect with yourself. And you can learn to listen to your body and care for it by breathing.
Especially in the gentle way you can benefit of a great release. Because how are we supposed to let go if we don’t feel safe? Our nervous system can’t let go if it can’t relax. I would love to teach & let you experience this!
So: either a soft breath coaching session is possible or a breathwork healing session. We can do this in the comfort of your own space or we can go into nature for an extra healing aspect.
It’s also possible to combine your breathing session with energywork like Reiki (soft) or Kundalini (powerful) – and I love to add some soundhealing to it as well. For these sessions I work 1:1 and in small groups.
